Porn in SB Schools -SBUSD Says it's All Good...by Thomas Cole

This is the email exchange I had with Indy reporter Jean Yamamura this week, Sept 20, 2022. Not much made it into her so called article but we do appreciate them sending our poster out to 135,000 residents for free. Parents can now see one page of what is hidden in our school libraries.

Thomas Cole

"JM Thank you for the response, Thomas. I believe from talking to people who were there that the lack of coverage in local media was one of the things mentioned that day. Well, here we are. I have a few specific things about this incident to ask:

Why pick an elementary school in the Hope School District for the flyers? Doesn't the youth of the students make this inappropriate? Not to mention it being the wrong school district?

TC  We only passed to parents with their permission. We believe all school districts are the right districts to prevent damage to our children by government schools, admin and staff.

JM - Was it because it was their Pride day and your group assumed that meant gay pride? The only person on your list who is from the district is apparently gay. Is this a coincidence?

TC - We had no idea of any pride day. We're not anti gay. We are against school grooming and indoctrination of minors via innapropriate "sex lessons". Lessons that seperate children from their parents. Lesson that make schools the private, secret confidant and illisitor of our children.
And lessons that distract and confuse our students at a very vulnerable time, by using the power that government schools have over young and vulnerable children. While spending $27,000/year per student, while showing a 70% academic failure rates, while CA is near dead last in the nation for education outcomes. 50th....
And these are Lessons that Children are forced by law to attend in government schools -  and thus these children are being coerced into adopting the views that SBUSB decides are appropriate. These radical and hidden sex ed programs are objected to as not appropriate.

JM - SBUSD says the image is not from a textbook, but from a graphic novel in the library. Can you explain.

TC It's a SBUSD approved book, novel, textbook... filled with text and lurid pictures, along with 80 other such approved sex ed textbooks in the school library.  Let's have parents take a look at all of them, shall we?

JM - SBUSD says such books reflect back the reality for some high school students who are gay or trans. You chose an image that shows gay/trans sex, instead of heterosexual couple. Is it gay and trans-sexual people this objects to? or sex ed in high schools in general?

TC - No- we didn't choose the image. SBUSD chose and approved the book and it's text and it's images. We are showing parents what SBUSD is showing their kids.  People, students, teens can be as gay as they want, but we think schools have no business promoiting these issues. Let the parents decide - show them the books.

Also - the Teen Talk sex ed program is filled with what many parents consider perverse and lurid sex details, in text and images distributed by SBUSD to young girls and boys in school as "education."    We think as many parents do, that advising young school girls that "anal sex is good birth control" is going too far. And there is much more in these programs that is hidden from parents. We think parents should know exactly what is being taught in our government schools.

JM - What would the alternative be as far as educating young people about sex?

TC - The HEART sex education was what many of our local parents wanted in place of Teen Talk. The HEART program satified all of the state requirements for sex ed in CA but did so without the hard core pornagraphic images and without the parent estranging, suggestive and steamy text. The SSBUSD school Board decided differently and of course they picked the most vile program available - TEEN TALK

No somos anti gay.

The book in question, Gender Queer, was not part of the high school sex ed materials, said Nick Masuda, a spokesperson for S.B. Unified, but was a memoir by a nonbinary, gender-neutral individual. The novel was highly controversial among some circles for its explicit drawings of author Maia Kobabe’s struggles with understanding eir sexuality — Kobabe uses the pronouns “e,” “em,” and “eir.” It nonetheless won the Alex Award from the American Library Association for ages 12 through 18. Though high school libraries have equally explicit graphic novels of heterosexual love and sex, Masuda said no one has challenged those books to the Board of Trustees.

PARENTS BILL OF RIGHTS

SANTA BARBARA STUDENTS ARE FAILING AT 50% RATES. GETTING WORSE AS SBUSD INSTITUTES RACE TRAINING PROGRAMS, EQUITY PROGRAMS, GENDER FLUIDITY PROGRAMS... TIME FOR A BIG CHANGE!!

PARENTS AND STUDENTS EDUCATION BILL OF RIGHTS

GREG HAMMEL September 5, 2022

The Parents Bill of rights asserts that it is the liberty of parents to direct the
upbringing, education, and care of their children. This is a fundamental
right as stated by the Supreme Court:

1)  “The child is not the mere creature of the state... the
state of Oregon, by forcing parents to place their
children in public school] unreasonably interfere[d]
with the liberty of parents and guardians to direct the
upbringing of their children under their control.”      -
Pierce v. Society of Sisters

We assert the following rights for the Parents and Students in the County of Santa
Barbara. These rights are grounded in existing USA and CA State Statutes and
Law:
1. RELIGIOUS FREEDOM

2. FREEDOM OF POLITICAL THOUGHT

3. FREEDOM OF INFORMATION AND TRANSPARENCY

4. RIGHT TO CHOOSE APPROPRIATE SEX EDUCATION

5. FREEDOM FROM DISCRIMINATION

6. RIGHT TO ATTAINING EDUCATION STANDARDS

7. MEDICAL FREEDOM

1. RELIGIOUS FREEDOM: Students and families have the right to not affirm religious views put
forth by the school district and to not be forced to disavow their family’s religious views.
CA LAW IN SUPPORT OF THIS RIGHT- Education Source Code: 49091.12, “(a) A pupil may
not be compelled to affirm or disavow any particular personally or privately held world view,
religious doctrine, or political opinion.”
Violation of the Law: SBUSD has students AFFIRM that there are up to 72 distinct genders.
A vast majority of the students are from families which believe in the
Judeo/Christian/Muslim teachings with regards to creation. In all of these religions, the
Bible states that God created mankind with two genders. See Genesis 1:27.
There are many other violations of the law per Teen Talk. Sex outside of marriage, ex.
2. FREEDOM OF POLITICAL THOUGHT: Students have the right to not affirm political views put
forth by the school district and to not be forced to disavow their personally held political
views.
CA LAW IN SUPPORT OF THIS RIGHT - Education Source Code: 49091.12, “(a) A pupil may
not be compelled to affirm or disavow any particular personally or privately held world view,
religious doctrine, or political opinion.”
Violation of the Law:
ï‚· The Santa Barbara Unified School District attempted to dedicated Feb. 2-5 as
"Black Lives Matter at School Week," to coincide with Black History Month.  This
is SBUSD blatantly making ALL students affirm BLM’s political point of view by
recognizing BLM as legit. The SBUSD also met the demands of BLM activists
who called on the district to defund any contracts with the Santa Barbara Sheriff's
Office or Police Department (getting rid of police on campus). This tactic affirms
BLM’s legitimacy among all students…. Even those who do not agree with BLM’s
political message.
BLM is a marxist group founded by self proclaimed Marxist Patrice Cullors. BLM support
many political ideologies and actions with which most of the students (and their parents) do
not agree. These include, Marxism as a form of central government, disruption of the
western nuclear family, defunding and abolishing policing.
ï‚· During the school day, SBUSD schools endorsed student walkouts from school to protest the
election of President Donald Trump. The teachers encouraged this walkout by allowing
excused absences. From Noozhawk…“A teacher on the scene of the SBHS rally said
students will get unexcused absences for the two classes they miss Wednesday.
Students wearing Trump/Pence shirts at these same events were harassed. “

3. FREEDOM OF INFORMATION AND TRANSPARENCY: Parents shall be permitted to review any
information the SBUSD uses to teach or create the student’s curriculum. Under no
circumstances shall this right be abridged. No parent should have to file a FOUA to force the
school district to provide this information.
CA LAW IN SUPPORT OF THIS RIGHT – CA EDUCATION SOURCE CODE: 49091.10 (a)
“All primary supplemental instructional materials and assessments, including
textbooks, teacher’s manuals, films, audio and video recordings, and
software shall be compiled and stored by the classroom instructor and made
available promptly for inspection by a parent or guardian in a reasonable
timeframe or in accordance with procedures determined by the governing
board of the school district.”
Calif. Public Records Act: Gov’t Code  §6250-6268: The California Public Records Act is a series
of laws meant to guarantee that the public has access to public records of governmental bodies
including public schools in California.
Violation of the Law: SBUSD hides much of its Critical Race Theory curriculum and educational
support material on password protected websites where parents do not have access. It is
against the law to hide curriculum from the parents. Parents should not have to petition with a
FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request to get information they are legally entitled to.
4. PARENTS RIGHT TO CHOOSE APPROPRIATE SEX EDUCATION: Parents have the right to
determine the type and level of sex education is appropriate for their child. Under no
circumstances shall the SBUSD explicitly keep from parents the sex education curriculum
(i.e. keeping material hidden on closed portals). Also, activities such as birth control
distribution, review of pornographic books, taking sex surveys, etc. shall not be hidden from
the children’s parents.
CA LAW IN SUPPORT OF THIS RIGHT: CA AB-329 section 51933 e and section 51937):
AB-329 section 51937: “The Legislature recognizes that Parents and guardians have the
ultimate responsibility for imparting values regarding human sexuality to their children.”

AB-329 section 51933 e :“Instruction and materials shall encourage a pupil to communicate with
his or her parents, guardians, and other trusted adults about human sexuality and provide the
knowledge and skills necessary to do so.”
AB-329 section 51937: The Legislature intends to create a streamlined process to make it easier
for parents and guardians to review materials and evaluation tools related to comprehensive
sexual health education and HIV prevention education, and, if they wish, to excuse their
children from participation in all or part of that instruction or evaluation. The Legislature
recognizes that parents and guardians have the ultimate responsibility for imparting values
regarding human sexuality to their children.

Violation of the Law: SBUSD ignored a 1,000 signature petition by parents to have the AB-329
approved HEART curriculum implemented by SBUSD. Instead, SBUSD voted to approve the Teen
Talk curriculum. 200 parents showed up at a school board meeting to voice their disapproval of
the Teen Talk curriculum. It was evident to the SBUSD that parents wanted to impart their
values regard human sexuality via the HEART curriculum, but the SBUSD willfully ignored the
parents in violation of AB-329 section 51937. Additional violations of the law by the Teen Talk
curriculum include purposefully keeping parents out of the loop with regards to the sex
education of their children. Excerpts from Teen Talk which are in violation of the law are given
below:
“Be sure to tell your students not only where to obtain reproductive health services but that
these services are often free, confidential and do not require parental consent.” (p. ix)
“What should students do if your parents/guardians discuss values that they don’t agree
with?
ï‚· Even though you may not agree with them, it’s important to listen and let them finish.
ï‚· Try repeating some of what you just heard before saying something new.
ï‚· Sometimes you must agree to disagree. You can say, ‘I can see what you’re saying, but I don’t
agree. I think that…’
ï‚· If your parent/guardian starts to lecture or yell, just gently remind them that you’re just
asking questions.” (p. 21)
“Do you need to be 18 or have your parent’s permission to get birth control? NO” (p. 132)
1. “Pass out the Clinic and Resources Lists. Ask the class: If you needed to go to a clinic,
how would you get there?” (p. 27). No need for parental notification.
5. FREEDOM FROM DISCRIMINATION: The SBUSD must treat all students with dignity and
ensure their Civil Rights are not abridged. Under no circumstances may any student be
stereotyped or be treated other than as an individual human being. SBUSD has no right to
categorize and treat students based on the genetic and cultural groups to which they
belong. These groups include: Race, Color, Sex, Religion, National Origin, Sexual Orientation,
and Gender Identity.
CA LAW IN SUPPORT OF THIS RIGHT: The CA civil rights initiative- Prop 209. “The state shall not
discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of
race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin, in the operation of public employment, public
education, and public contracting.”

USA LAW IN SUPPORT OF THIS RIGHT: Civil Rights Act of 1964. United States that outlaws
discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
Violation of the Law: The SBUSD forms its curricula and instructs its students with support from
a non-profit group called “Just Communities”. SBUSD pays hundreds of thousands of dollars to
“Just Communities” for support curriculum. In this curriculum supplied by “Just Communities”,
groups based on race (caucasian), sex (male) , color (white), disability state (able bodied), and
religious affiliation (Christian) are singled out negatively as “Oppressors”. They oppress all other

groups in their respective categories. SBUSD explicitly calls out ALL students and citizens of the
USA in those specific groups as oppressors. This violates the civil rights of each student per the
USA and CA Civil Rights Laws.
6. RIGHT TO ATTAINING EDUCATIONAL STANDARDS: Parents must be purposefully informed
of the education status of the schools their children attend and the entire district.
Thousands of children’s futures are at stake. When minority groups are systemically not
achieving to CA standards far below the White and Asian populations, then parents and the
community must be informed of this systemic racism.
The number one goal defined by the SBUSD Board is to “Keep learning and
achievement for all students as the primary focus”
For seven years, the average student proficiency in English and Math in the
SBUSD has been substandard. Only 44% of all students meet or exceed CA
Math standards. With minority students being systemically left behind.

PARENTS DEMAND- when student achievement falls or is stagnant across the district, the
school board must make its number one agenda item to improve student achievement in the
SBUSD.

7. MEDICAL FREEDOM: Parents have the right to chose the medical treatments and procedures
for their children. Parents have the right to know their children’s medical issues while
the children are not under their care. They also maintain the right to make decisions
regarding their children’s medical care. No medical decision will be made for any
child without their parents’ consent.

a. This applies to vaccines, wearing masks, and any other medical
treatment or procedures that the SBUSD mandates for students.
